The purpose of the South Lafayette Street Community Association is to enhance the quality of life for the residents by being responsive to the needs, interests and priorities of the community. It is the function of this organization to promote the health, safety, common good and social welfare of the residents.This organization's goal is to create a forum for communication with our neighbors and with our local government. As an association, our collective concerns will carry more weight with elected officials than those of individual citizens. When neighbors gather for a common purpose, we are more likely to unite to solve issues or concerns facing the community.
South Lafayette Street Community Association is committed to strengthening our community by:
• Promoting neighborliness, cooperation and goodwill among the members of our community;
• Collecting and distributing information that is relevant to the South Lafayette Street community to keep residents informed;
• Working with officials, citizens and organizations to maintain the safety and beauty of our community and to ensure the availability of public and private community services;
• Encouraging green environmental community practices in order to safeguard the health and well-being of the residents in our neighborhood, as well as the environmental health of our community;
• Facilitating community conversation and consensus on important topics and providing a community voice where possible;
• Encouraging responsible development that includes diversity in housing and consideration for the environment;
• Promoting South Lafayette Street as a vital and prosperous community;
• Organizing and orchestrating various community events to further bring residents together.
